Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started in the field of radio and television reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general reporter by NBC News two year later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent by 1988. In 1992, she was made the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently with President Reagan to summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
